What can guests expect when they visit Oscarsborg?

Our guest harbour is a family-friendly and pleasant guest harbour at the beautiful Oscarsborg Fortress. There’s none of the hustle and bustle of an outer harbour, but with all the facilities you’d want in a guest harbour. There are kilometres of hiking trails to discover and lots of exciting history. We’re a family business that strives to provide extra good service for our guests, and we can handle most of the challenges our guests come up with.

What does a perfect day at Oscarsborg look like for you?

Lots of boats in the harbour, queues to buy ice cream, cheerful people and an evening swim at the Commandant’s bathhouse. When I’m on duty in the harbour, my husband and children join me and stay in our cabin at Oscarsborg. They’re having a great time and have made several new friends among the children who visit us a lot. I’ve worked in the guest harbour since 2009, so I’ve made a lot of new friends among our guests, and there’s always someone to chat to.

You live in Frogn, what do you think is the best thing about living in Drøbak?

That I have most of what I need within a couple of kilometres’ reach. I don’t miss the big city now that I have small children, and I like the comfortable pace of our city; you can go to cafés, galleries and restaurants in addition to having the fields and the fjord so close.

What are your top tips for a summer day in Drøbak?

Take the kids to Follo Museum to play in the lovely playground and eat delicious waffles. Paddle to Sandspollen with a stop at Oscarsborg, and have dinner at the main square Time with friends in the park is the perfect ending!

Do you have any tips for those visiting Drøbak with children?

Drøbak Aquarium is absolutely magical! The kids love and never get tired of looking at all the exciting things that are there. Skiphelle is our favourite beach. Here there is shade under the trees on the lawn, and there is a long shallow sandy beach. It’s great for taking the little ones out into the water.

Want to share some hidden gems?

Kommandantens Badehus in the far north of Nordre Kaholmen is my favourite place to spend the evenings after a long day at work in the harbour. That’s when we bring pizza from Oscarsborg gjestehavns Spiseri and swimwear to enjoy the sunset. And there are many trips to Solfrid’s kiosk in Båthavna to buy ice cream or sausage in a waffle.
